ICL Surgery Procedure
Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) surgery is a refractive eye surgery that involves the implantation of a specially designed lens inside the eye to correct vision problems like myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. Here is an overview of the ICL surgery procedure:
Before Surgery
We will provide responses to your inquiries and offer guidance on the preparations required, the details of the surgical procedure, as well as the post-operative recovery process. If you typically use contact lenses, we will request that you switch to wearing glasses for a few weeks prior to the surgery. Additionally, you will undergo a specialized ultrasound examination in advance of the surgery, and it will be necessary for you to arrange for an adult to transport you home following your outpatient procedure.
The Day of Surgery
Prior to the surgery, a comprehensive eye examination will be conducted to assess your eye health and determine the precise vision correction needed. You will be administered eye-numbing drops, and intravenous medications will be provided to induce relaxation. Once in the operating room, your surgeon will introduce an ICL through a small incision in each eye. While your visit to the Eye Center may require approximately two to three hours, the actual surgical procedure typically lasts around 30 minutes.
After Surgery
Following ICL surgery, you will be kept in a recovery area for post-operative eye assessment. Upon departure, you will be advised to wear sunglasses or protective eye shields and arrange for someone to transport you home. It’s possible that you may experience slight eye discomfort or mild pain on the day after the surgery, for which you can use either the prescribed pain relief medication or an over-the-counter alternative. Typically, within two weeks, you should expect to be completely healed.
ICL Eye Surgery Cost
The cost of ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) surgery typically ranges from ₹50,000 to ₹80,000 per eye. Prices may vary based on the specific location, the surgeon’s experience, and the type of ICL used. Overall, ICL surgery is often more affordable in India compared to many other countries.
